Background :

Gawayn grew up with Rudraige, one the son of a lord, the other son of a freeman.  Their friendship was often turbulent, but always solid, and when Rudraige became Lord after his father's death, he made Gawayn captain of his guard.  The Brythunian is an accomplished hunter and the most dependable of bodyguards.  Whilst grateful for the wealth his friend bestows upon him, Gawayn does, however, consider that Rudraige should have made him eorl a long time ago.

The White Hand have learned to fear the Brythunians when Gawayn is at their head.  They call him the "Night Chaser", no doubt referring to his uncanny ability with a bow, even in the worst conditions.

Campaign History :

On a hunting trip with his lord, Rudraige, the Brythunian has a surprise face-to-face with a Hyperborean Emissary, during which he leads the slaves to safety.

Following his lord across the North Lands to the Aifreweia sanctuary, Gawayn tracks down raiders who turn out to be led by a hereditary enemy of Rudraige, the Nemedian lady Seonaid.  The heroes decide to engage them, to avoid any chance of them striking later into Brythunia, and it during the battle that Gawayn brings down an enormous Grey Man-Ape.

Embroiled in Rudraige's struggle with the Hyperboreans, Gawayn helps save hostages from a Northlands village, and although he is feared to be badly wounded in the struggle, proves to be extremely resilient. 

Upon recovering, he sets out after Rudraige. Alas, he arrives too late, his liege having been slain by a Werewolf and his hunting pack.  Gawayn catches up with Eadric, whose men found the Brythunian's corpse before the wolves could defile it, and have borne it back to their village for a fitting burial.
