Chapter I : Cry Freedom - The Adventure

A view of the Turanian camp; the Hyperborean emissary is in the old abandoned building with the white walls.  The baggage cart stands in for a hut.

Friends one moment, enemies the next...

Pursued by three Turanians that she managed to either kill or elude, thanks both to Elite Shooter and Feline Grace, Ygritte strikes terror into the heart of the foe.

Rudraige has spread fire amongst two tents, which kept the Turanians tied up.  The Brythnian lord wreaked havoc in their ranks.

Ygritte ran across the camp to take position on the roof of the old outpost, from whence she rained down arrows on her foes.

The Hyperborean dealt considerable damage with her magic, the Turanian infantry shielding her from direct assault.  Rudraige managed however to cut through them and face his hereditary enemy.  Meanwhile, Gawayn was escorting the slaves to safety ,but a Turanian shieldwall formed up in front of him.

The Emissary and Rudraige battled to and forth, until a well placed arrow from Ygritte hit her in the chest.  Although the witch continued to fight, Rudraige was able to slay her; however Ygritte's distraction allowed two Turanian soldiers to break in among the slaves and slay one of them.  Time was now of the essence, but the hail of arrows from Ygritte and Gawayn tore apart the shieldwall.  Reinforcements arrived too late...

Ygritte, Rudraige, Gawayn managed to get four of the five slaves to safety.  The Turanian camp was littered with the dead and wounded.  The three adventurers were finally able to make acquaintance, and Rudraige show to Ygritte an unusual scroll that he had time to tear from the Hyperborean's belt...

This was a great, tense, scenario, I give many thanks to the two authors who largely inspired it.  The Heroes emerge victorious, with a bonus XP to boot for having rescued four out of the five slaves.  Ygritte gains +2XP, and leather armour, but the witch's magic has caused her a severe wound (2 energy gems in the Wound zone, until Recovery is possible).  Rudraige gains +3XP, having slain the Hyperborean Emissary, but the struggle with her has added another scar to his collection (1 energy gem in the Wound Zone).  Gawayn acquires +2XP and is unwounded.
