Background :

Eadric, his family and his followers, left Nemedia for what they hoped to be a better life in the Border Kingdoms. It turned out not to be, as they were constantly threatened by Cimmerian incursions.

The Nemedian lord made the decision to uproot his people once again, and cross the Iglophian Mountains to settle in its foothills.  Choosing the Northlands as a place of refuge may seem an unusual choice, but it is, in truth, virtually devoid of human life.

Foul denizens and terrible monsters roam here, however, and the price of peace for his kin, is that Eadric is forever abroad, hunting down threats and dealing with them before they can strike.  His extensive knowledge on all forms of monstrous life has filled entire tomes in the library of the Aifreweia, the Nemedian sanctuary to Mitra founded two centuries ago in the Northlands.

It is when Eadric drives a werewolf away from Rudraige's corpse, and in doing so meets Gawayn, that he is drawn into the fight against Hyperborea.
