Background :

-  Many believe that life is like a wheel.  It is not.  Life is not spun around by some mysterious force, pushing you down into the darkness or raising you up to the light independently of your will.  The choice between darkness and light is your own.  There is no surer force to guide you towards the light than the wisdom of Ibis.

Learned at an early age, despite a modest background, the Shemite Zarese drew the attention of a scribe of Ishtar, who found her a place as an initiate of the goddess.  Although there was much to be learned in the temple library, the hedonistic rites of the goddess resonated little with the girl.

She fled one night and sought asylum with the exiled Stygian god, Ibis, whose temples are discreetly scattered throughout northern Shem.  She who had been seen by her fellow priestesses as cultured, in the embrace of Ibis realised the dramatic extent of her ignorance.  And rose to the challenge.

Her devotion, curiosity and perseverance coupled with humanism, grace, and good humour, Zarese  succeeded the initiation that so many fail and became Zarese of the Silver Moon.  She was chosen as ambassador to the court of Aquilonia for the Shemite temples of Ibis.  There she became instrumental in rekindling the traditional alliance between Ibis and Mitra, forging the Fellowship of Light that allowed the followers of the two gods to strike several blows at the dark acolytes of Set.  Zarese never shied from danger, and her body bears the scars of many a terrifying encounter in the darkness.

Unfortunately, the court of Aquilonia being what it is, she was toppled from grace by the jealousy of more established and conservative local priests of Ibis, for whom Stygia seems a far off threat at best.  Zarese returned to her temple in Shem, but the Fellowship of Light lives on, and Zarese remains well-connected among the followers of Mitra.  When she rides abroad, filled with the power of the silver moon, evil does well to shrink back into the shadows.

 

 

Campaign History :

 

It was thus no surprise that Zarese chose to lead in person an expedition during which a small group of heroes daringly travelled to Natohk's camp in the Eastern Desert, and then, with even greater daring, travelled to the cursed ruins of Kuthcheme.
