A pre-human serpent-race once ruled over the south of the Thurian Continent, even after the Cataclysm.  In the post-Cataclysm East, another ancient but human, civilisation was overthrown by its slaves.  Refugees streamed westwards, and both overthrew the serpent-folk and worshipped them as Gods, becoming Stygians.

The serpent-folk live on in the darkest recesses of the shadowy south, and as of old, as of always, they rule over various species of Scions, humanoid creatures with animal heads.  The Scions of Set have the heads of a hybrid creature that, if it ever existed in animal form, has long since become extinct.  They are led into the fray by Avatars of Seth, great creatures of frightening power.
