The cities of Shem participate very actively in the slave trade, and Brythunian girls are the most sought after.  Captured young, they have the (relatively) good fortune to be incorporated into the Amazon Guards who traditionally protect many Eastern Shemite kings, and often make or unmake them.  The enemies of Shem are always filled with awe at the sight of these tall blond women striding among the stockier swarthy men that form the bulk of the army, then with fear as they witness their speed and skill on the battlefield.
