A Hyborian nation situated south of the Bossonian Marches of Aquilonia and Pictland, west of Poitain and Ophir, and north of the panhandle of Argos.
The Black and Thunder Rivers flow through Zingara and empty into the Western Ocean along the Zingaran coast. The shallow Alimane River forms the border with Poitain.
Along the Pictish frontier there are thick woodlands and a spur of the Poitainian Mountains. The Rabirian Mountains run along the Alimane and separate eastern Zingara from the kingdom of Argos. A ghoul-haunted forest, with an ancient, ruined city, divides Zingara from Argos in the south, where are also "fiend-haunted swamps".
Initially peopled by an admixture of Zingg Valley Shemites and Picts, Zingara was heavily settled by the Hybori. Although there are strong ethnical substrata, most historians place the present-day Zingarans among the Hyborian peoples.
The Zingarans are agricultural, maritime, and pastoral, ruled over by petty princelings only nominally subservient to the capital of Kordava. The land is chronically torn by by civil war.
Zingara is also known as a home to privateers and buccaneers, whose reputation preceeds them along every coast of the Hyborian world. Rivalry with the Argosseans is intense and violent.
