The principal deity of the savage Picts is Jhebbal Sag, an ancient God of darkness and fear.
It is said that all animals, including man, once worshipped the Lord of Beasts and spoke the same language. He is now however largely forgotten, and only the largest, smartest or strongest creatures remember the Wild God.
He is worshipped in the Pictish Wilderness, and also in the Black Kingdoms, under the name of Jullah.
A bestial God, he is delighted by human sacrifice, and his black altars in the dark heart of nature are permanently stained with the blood of men, women and children. His priests are shamans or witch doctors, who listen to his whispers on the wind, bring meat to his altars, and women to his sacred groves. From his trysts with human or animal females, are born particularly splendid creatures, who in turn become his heralds or his priests.
In turn, the Pictish and Black Kingdom shamans gain the ability to speak with animals and summon them; and knowledge of the symbol of Jhebbal Sag which wards off the wildest creatures of the deepest forests.
